September 23-24: Endor and I competed at the CDS-San Diego Fall Show in Del Mar, CA this weekend to earn our final scores for year-end awards at Fourth Level. Judge Christine Hastings gave us a 68.6% and a 65%.
September 9-10: I took Endor and Fritz to a smaller show at Creek Hollow Ranch in Ramona, CA over the weekend, and was very successful. Endor and I put in personal bests for me at Prix St. George, with a 66.75% and a 68%, and won the Reserve Junior High Point (second to none other than Fritz). Fritz and I rode Fourth Level Test 1 in preparation for the regional championships, and finished with 67.2% and 68.6%, taking home the Junior High Point.
August 1-6: After a long, event-filled trip, Kalibre and I finally reached Lexington, VA for the North American Junior Championships. We were both psyched and ready to do our best, which we did. After a conservative team test for a 66%, we had a stellar individual test for a 68.3%, leaving us out of the medals by only 2 points! I couldn't have been more thrilled with our ride. We also finished fifth in the freestyle. It was a great trip, and Kalibre can now enjoy a well-deserved break!
July 7-9: Kalibre and I competed at the USEF Junior Dressage Team Championships in Pebble Beach, CA. We finished third in the preliminary test with a 67% (missing first by only two points), fifth in the team test (behind second by .5%), and then finished with a rough individual test to finish seventh overall and win the Team Silver Medal. Although the individual test could have been better, I was very happy with Kalibre.
June 12: The qualifying standings for the USEF Junior Dressage Team Championships were posted today, and Kalibre and I qualified in a tie for 8th place with a 67.3%. These rankings are nation-wide, and the top 12 are invited to compete. The scores were all very close, with fourth through ninth places all being between 67.3-67.6%! The championships take place July 7-9 in Pebble Beach, CA.
June 11: Kalibre and I went to Dressage at Intrepid Farms to finish qualifying for various championships. I needed to ride a freestyle to qualify for the NAJC, but mine wasn't done yet. I was lucky enough to be able to borrow a freestyle from a great friend, and we finished with a score well above the 58% I needed. The technical score was actually higher than the artistic score! We also did an FEI Junior Team Test and received a 69.25%!
June 2-4: We made the trek up to Starr Vaughn Equestrian Center (a 10 hour drive) for the Shelley Siegel Dressage Show, but it was well worth the trip! Kalibre and I received our highest FEI Junior Individual Test scores to date. I finally figured Endor out even a little bit more, and finished second in the Team Test with our highest score yet, and won the freestyle with a score of 67.5%! This was the Reserve FEI Freestyle High Point.
May 26-28: I was unable to show Fritz at Dressage at Flintridge because the show was full, but both Endor and Kalibre were successful here! Kalibre was second by one point in the FEI Junior Team Test, receiving a 68.5% from Charlotte Bredahl-Baker. Endor and I again improved our Team Test score, and I competed in my first freestyle ever! Despite nerves, I finished in third place behind a tie for first, which I was pleased with. Endor was too, because he always loves award ceremonies!
May 11-13: This was a busy weekend for me at Dressage at DG Bar Ranch, competing all three horses! Kalibre successfully competed in three FEI Junior Tests, and was only one point behind the winner in one of our classes (in which I made an error of course, so we otherwise would have won). Fritz was a late entry, so we were in the open division all weekend. On Friday, we placed fourth with over a 70%, behind Jan Ebeling, Laurie Falvo Doyle, and Kathleen Raine (not bad company!). Had we been in the junior division, we would have won the Upper Level Jr/YR High Point Award. Endor and I improved on our Team Test score from Del Mar, but we split the judges in our PSG. Judge at C Jeanne McDonald gave us a 67.75%! Overall a successful show.
April 27-30: I competed with Fritz and Endor at the Del Mar National Horse Show. Fritz got better all weekend, culminating with a second place in the Jr/Am Third Level Test 3 Sweepstakes, just 2 points behind the winner. It was my first Young Rider qualifier on Endor, and after a rough team test, we placed fourth in the Prix St. Georges with a 64.25%. I was quite thrilled about our results.
April 14-16: Fritz and I participated in a clinic with German 'O' Judge Dr. Volker Moritz. Dr. Moritz loved Fritz, and told me who would be a very good horse for me both now and in the future.
